DEVO is the term used by the Jersey Shore Junior Wrestling League for the Developmental League.   The Jersey Shore Junior Wrestling League understands that not all wrestlers participating in area programs can make the JSJWL starting rosters.  DEVO provides youth wrestlers the opportunity to compete against wrestlers from area teams in which wrestlers are matched up according to weight, age, and wrestling experience.  DEVO events do not keep track of team scores and it provides young wrestlers the chance to develop their experience and skills in competition without having the pressure of a team score involved.    Coaches for opposing DEVO teams communicate prior to the events to attempt to match wrestlers up in matches that will be competetive and fun for the participants.  

For Wall DEVO, we put a roster of wrestlers together prior to the first DEVO match.   We take weights of the wrestlers and then include their Name, Age, Weight, and DEVO Ranking on a spreadsheet.   The DEVO coordinator for the club matches kids up with DEVO wrestlers from the opposing program based on size, weight, and ability.   DEVO is the perfect introduction to the sport because it gives coaches control over matchups.

DEVO does not cost any money to participate in (Your registration fee at the beginning of the year covers it).  We only request that once a wrestler is on our DEVO roster they attend all DEVO matches they have a bout scheduled unless they give a coach prior notice that they cannot attend.
